In 2020, Valley Metro was trying to significantly reduce Paratransit services all around the valley. With our limited resources, we stood with families and advocates to protect Paratransit services in Gilbert.

We met with Council members, attended every public meeting, and even did forensic accounting on Valley Metro and Dial-a-Ride’s numbers. We contacted news outlets and we were featured on KTAR news, Gilbert Sun News, and other radio and television outlets in an attempt to spread the word about the upcoming cuts to services.

Together with residents, we showed why cutting these rides would devastate the elderly and disabled who rely on them for independence, work, and daily life.

Thanks to this collective effort, the Council voted not to reduce services, keeping 191 ADA-certified residents connected to their community.
